Redding City Council campaign 2020

David Robbins ran for Redding City Council in 2020 on a platform of rent control, a $20/hr min. wage – loosely based on MIT’s Living Wage calculator, establishing a Housing First program, decriminalizing poverty and homelessness, free public utilities to households making $60K/yr or less, free public high speed Internet, a citizen’s oversight committee on RPD, re-investing funds from RPD – which currently takes up almost 40% of the entire city budget, contrasted with 10 and 7% for public works and community services-, creation of a green public works program, establishing a Chamber of Workers and neighborhood assemblies, separation of church and state, and much more. We got 8.23%, over 6,000 votes, all with out any big donors, no corporations, no churches, no political parties, etc. all organic people power. This is great news! Even more exciting, there are neighborhoods that voted for us in a greater than the average %age points. Some of these neighborhoods, like South City area we (SCSP) have been implementing regular mutual aid operations, serving the people. Raising class consciousness! Until the Victory, Forever!
